Mommy is procrastinating

And is helping us post for a change!

We are still alive but Mommy has been doing a lot on the computer recently. She has to talk in front of a lot of people this Wednesday and is very nervous! She has been working on her presentation almost non stop for the last week. When she has stopped, she's been working on studying for some big test she has to take in March over everything she has learned over the last 2 years. Hopefully this explains why we haven't posted much recently - she's been hogging the computer!

Mommy recently gave me my first blueberry - I didn't care for the taste but it was fun to play with!
And here is a video of Cody playing in the snow that we had back in January.

Well, we are getting ready to head to the Country Club for our vacation while Mommy and Daddy head back to St. Louis for the holidays. They stayed up reeeeeally late last night getting ready and when Mommy tried to sit down at her computer I was taking up as much space as possible so she would leave me alone...it worked!

Death to stuffies!

Mommy and Daddy bought me my first stuffie tonight! Don't get me wrong, they buy me plenty of toys but maybe you can see why stuffies are never brought into the house. I do much better with kongs or stuffed bones. They bought a mallard stuffie because I loved the one that my friend Kaos had.

I was tiiiired last night. Mommy was doing homework on the bed and I rolled over (as shown). She couldn't resist. She googled "sideways head" and didn't come up with anything, and then tried to think of what already had a sideways head...not a cow, not a horse, not even a cool lizard, but a fish. Gee, thanks, Mom.

Mommy's sister and her husband came to visit at the end of August...we never posted about it because Mommy has been so busy, but here are a few pics from the trip to the big dog park!

We were so excited to have visitors! While they were here Mommy and Daddy left us at home and went down to Colorado Springs to go to the top of Pike's Peak...we wanted to go but we weren't allowed on the train that went to the top.

They also went to Estes Park and bought some tee shirts and had ice cream (without us, again!) Here's a picture of Debbie and Andy at somewhere other than sea level (Cody would love to go on their boat someday!)

Camping

Mommy is back in school and is also in a really hard clinical rotation so she apologizes to all of our loyal readers that she hasn't been able to help us post more. Here are some of the much-anticipated pictures from camping!

Here is a candid of most of the group hanging out at Turquoise Lake, CO (near Leadville, for you CO doggies!) We found an awesome camping spot right up a hill from this lake and Mommy and Daddy said we did really really well with camping. We looooved running around and trying to snatch food from all of Mommy's classmates (the girls on the rocks) and their significant others!

One classmate even brought her new doggie - Grizzly! We enjoyed running around and playing with him. He is a boxer/mastiff mix and Mommy loves this picture because someday he will be bigger than Cody!

Daddy threw me in the lake. I was not happy.

But Cody had a great time swimming and chasing floaty toys!

He was pooped from all that swimming!

And no, not in our living room...Mommy just wanted to set up the new tent to make sure everything was in box. We loved walking in and out and in and out! Mommy and Daddy are going to have to tape my collar together while we're out in the wilderness though because I like to walk around at night and my collar jingles. Her alternative was finding a doggie sleeping bag that zips all the way around to wrap me up like a taco, but Daddy protested.

We can't wait to post pics next week of our big adventure!

We live in Denver, CO but before this we lived in North Dakota. Mommy and Daddy are both originally from the St. Louis, MO area but now love living with a view of the mountains! They love traveling and seeing new places so what better place to live than a vacation destination?

Daddy got out of the Air Force last year and is going to school full time for his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. In his spare time, he plays with us, plays video games, and builds things (like our new deck!) He also loves backpacking but has yet to convince Mommy to go on a true multi-day backpacking trip. We would be excited to go! We need a bigger tent first!

Mommy is getting her Master's in Genetic Counseling. Most of you probably haven't heard of it, so don't worry! She has 1 year left and then will hopefully find a job in the Denver area next year. In her spare time (which she doesn't have much of), she enjoys taking us to the doggy park, taking fancy pictures, quilting, and is looking forward to being able to relax on our new deck!

1 year celebration!

Hello! We let our 1 year blogging anniversary fly by, so here we are 3 days late with some pictures and even a video for you to enjoy.

It has been HOT here! Maybe not as hot as Arizona or as our grandparents in Missouri, but we don't have air conditioning here so we are hot inside and hot outside too! Last weekend was Mommy's friend's birthday so we went to the BIG dog park with them after getting some ice cream. (Turns out, Yoshi didn't like ice cream, so he gave his to Lacey, our new friend). The big dog park is at a state park - it is 300 acres of off leash heaven! We even got to play in a creek! Mommy was going to take her nice camera but the weather turned kind of nasty so she left it in the car and is still waiting to get pictures from her friend. But here is Yoshi checking out the ice cream and the remnants of Cody's ice cream bowl!

Mommy and Daddy have been spending almost every weekend this summer building us a new deck. Here is their progress (please excuse Awkward Cody who doesn't like being on his back!)

Mommy happened to snap this picture of Cody and Daddy - it is one of her new favorites. Look how happy Cody looks to be sitting on Daddy's lap!

Mommy and Daddy were tired after working on the deck and didn't feel like cooking so they went to Sonic. They didn't share their tater tots, but Yoshi got a hold of a napkin...almost as good!

We've tried to make the best of it. Yoshi had to go for a haircut so Cody got ice cream! (Hardly fair) Good Times has a special treat just for dogs with custard, dog treats, and peanut butter - and they freeze it so it took awhile for him to get through! Sorry the pic is turned funny - Mommy is having issues again.

Mommy and Daddy headed over to our neighbor's house for some BBQ and it started raining on them. Not just raining though - hailing! They are crossing their fingers that our tornado watch doesn't turn into anything!

We are not liking the fireworks - how about you guys?

Construction

We have been busy helping Mommy and Daddy build a new deck. As soon as they got our doggy door installed they tore down our old deck (it basically crumbled as soon as they started, so it was definitely time to be replaced). Since we have a split level house, the only exit to the back yard is now through the basement window, so we have all been using the couch as a jumping point to get out there. Cody especially loves it because he has never been allowed on the couch before (Mommy keeps catching him taking naps on it now but isn't saying anything until the deck is done). So here are some pictures of the progress so far. Today some of the basic framing went up. We will all be glad to have things back to normal!

Our neighbor came over and asked if we would be able to take their dog, Dakota. They are moving and have to spend some time in a motel for awhile and decided that they cannot afford him any longer. If there is anyone in the Denver area that you know who wo to adopt him, please let us know. If they can't find a home by Saturday he is going to the pound :(

He is a very nice doggie - he is about 12 years old, fixed, house trained, good with kids, and very easy going. He gets along with us just fine so I'm sure he would get along with you! He is about 60-70lbs. Please please please spread the word like wildfire and let us know if you are interested!

Summer is here!

Mommy finished her finals and is now halfway through her master's degree - yay Mommy! The day she finished them our Grandma and Grandpa (Daddy's parents) came to visit us for a week. We got to go to the "Shylo Country Club" for a weekend visit while they hiked in Boulder without us (there wasn't enough room in the car for 4 humans and the 2 of us). We enjoyed ourselves and got an A+ on our report card! The people at Shylo were impressed with how well Yoshi played with other little dogs and mentioned that Cody was always bouncing off the walls with energy. We would love to go back sometime, but especially because Cody heard they have a pool! Unfortunately it wasn't open while we were there, but if we go later this summer it will be!

Once we got back from Shylo we helped with some house projects...this one is our favorite! Mommy and Daddy were tired of flies getting in when they left the back door open, but since we don't have air conditioning we never really had a choice! Well now, we have our own door and can go out whenever we want! It took us awhile to get used to it (especially Yoshi) but now we are both pros. Sorry the picture of Cody is crooked, Mommy doesn't know how to get it to turn and she says she didn't turn the camera to take it so she has no idea why it is showing up sideways.

Our house got a new front door and a new ceiling fan in Mommy and Daddy's bedroom to keep us nice and cool.

Mommy really likes this pic of us sleeping - we don't usually sleep together but Yoshi flopped out of his bed onto Cody so it just happened that Mommy had a camera handy!

Mommy has also been getting in touch with her photographer side. She would love to photograph humans, but since we have no family nearby she figured she would start with us. So here are a few pics from her photography adventures!

Well we better go. We are hoping Mommy and Daddy decide to take us to the dog park today but it is starting to get too hot so we need to go soon!

Keeping busy

I've been busy around here! I've been helping Daddy take apart some fence panels in the backyard.

As you can see from the stakes and the big orange straps we have been having fence issues anyway, so I'm just trying to do my part until they get around to fixing it! Although I think I'm more excited that they might be fixing our yard soon...we've been digging to try to get them to start but they've been doing other house projects. (Even though a new roof and a new bathroom don't do US much good!) The yard is gross and the previous owners of this house didn't bother to take care of it.

The other day Daddy grilled a steak just for us! Here's me hogging the bone from Cody.

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit a few weeks ago...look what I got! It fits me perfectly. I destroyed my Uncle Gizzy's bed when I went to visit them over Christmas a few years ago so Mommy and Daddy haven't let me have a bed of my own since then. But I've gotten older and convinced them that I won't destroy it. (Ok, maybe not - I've been digging a hole in our big couch and Mommy and Daddy have revoked my couch privileges, so they bought me a bed of my own. Don't they understand that we have to scratch and turn around 3 times before lying down? What did they expect my nails would do to the couch?)

Anyway, I know you are all jealous of my new bed!

Today was a beeeautiful day so Mommy and Daddy took us to the park (ok, we go a lot of days but today was special). Mommy also took her big fancy camera to capture how much fun we were having! We got to read lots of pee-mails and ran A LOT so most of her pictures were blurry, but here are some of the good ones. Sorry the text is all wonky, we can't figure out how to fix it!

Mommy never seems to be satisfied with my haircuts. I'm almost 3 and I've never had what she thinks is a perfect haircut! Usually the groomers leave too much beard hair and I get it all wet when I drink. Finally, a groomer listened to her and shaved it all off - and now she thinks I look weird!

Mommy and Daddy have been on spring break and have been making lots of noise and a huge mess in the bathroom downstairs and they have been making us stay upstairs a lot. I snuck downstairs last night but forgot to take the camera, so I will post pictures soon to show you what they have been up to!

We haven't really been up to much lately and our Mommy and Daddy are really involved in school right now. We are excited for Spring Break as much as they are!

And we just made our reservation to go to the Shylo Country Club in May...we are very excited because they have a POOL just for doggies! Ok, Cody is excited, me not so much. But we get to run around for 3 days while Mommy and Daddy are on a mini-trip into the mountains. They will have company so we aren't going to all fit in the car (even though Daddy wants to put me in the trunk, Mommy won't let him!)

Yeah yeah, we know. We disappeared. We're sorry. We got some guff over the holidays for not updating and Mommy should be doing homework so guess what - she's helping us update our blog instead!

St. Louis was fun! I managed not to throw up in the car on the way to St. Louis. Go me! I did throw up once in a drive through when Mommy and Daddy were getting Culvers (love their french fries...yum!) but I hadn't gotten my medicine that day. We shuffled back and forth between Mommy and Daddy's families for 2 weeks, which I think was more exhausting for them than it was for us. We got to sniff in 2 different yards and play with different people! We got to play with our Aunt Coco and Uncle Gizzy for a few days. Here's a pic of us on Christmas Eve.

We got Denver Bronco's jerseys from our Grandma for Christmas - we will be stylish for this years superbowl even though they aren't playing. At least next season we'll be ready!

Here's a pic of our family on Christmas Day. Daddy didn't like having to shave every day in the military - he thought our furry coats are so great that he decided to grow out a goatee. This was about 2 weeks before Mommy "suggested" he shave it...hehe.

New Years came and went and we even stayed up until midnight. We got to drink something called champagne - Cody liked it but I didn't! Cody would be a lush if Mommy and Daddy would let him - he'll drink anything!

We were sad to leave our extended families behind, but it was nice to get back to our yard and not have to ride in the car every other day. Plus, once we got back it was our birthdays! Mommy and Daddy don't know our exact birthdays, so we get to share our Grandpa's (he doesn't like it when we call him that, but Grandma does) and our Uncles' (both of Mommy's brothers' ) birthdays, which is January 19th! When I was adopted in May of 2007 they said I was 3 -4 months old...so that means I am now 3! Cody was adopted at the end of July 2008 and they said he was 7 - 8 months old...so he is now 2! Happy Birthday to us!

All I got for my birthday was a stinkin' haircut. And a bad one at that :( We're not going back to this groomer, after Mommy asked for a "little bit of fluff" on my head. Look what they left! By the way, I did not like it when Mommy put the tie in my hair, but I posed pretty well just to show you how bad the haircut was. The rest of my body besides my head is shaved. If only I could get my paws on that groomer...why I'd...

Er, nevermind. We should probably stop for now so Mommy can actually do her homework. Peace!

Hello everyone!

Mommy has been hogging the computer because she has finals coming up and lots of projects due for school. But we found a few minutes to give you some updates!

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit just before Thanksgiving. Cody showed Grandma how he likes to be a lapdog.

I think I fit better.

And she even gave me a nice back rub!

Our Aunt and Uncle sent me this snappy looking jacket for me because it didn't fit Cora and Sophia (the silky terriers) and they are girls anyway! Unfortunately it is a tad too big so I can't go motorcycle riding quite yet (and Mommy and Daddy would need to buy a motorcycle too so at this point it's just too big of an investment for the sake of looking cool). I do think I look pretty handsome in it, don't you?

And then she got this one just a few minutes ago. That green rubber thing is his best friend. I think it smells funny.

We are heading to St. Louis for Christmas and New Years...which means I get to take my pills so I don't get carsick on the 12 hour drive! We are excited to get more attention from Mommy and Daddy's families but are nervous about meeting our new cousin (of the hooman variety). Hopefully she likes us and we can manage to stay on our best behavior!

Sorry we promised to update - we should probably stop doing that because we have gotten really lazy lately. We are too busy enjoying our couch and having our Daddy home all the time. We had promised to update with our Halloween report so here it is. This was the first time we were ALL together for Halloween in 5 years! Mommy and Daddy went all out as Jack Skellington and Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Cody was supposed to be Jack's dog Zero, but Mommy spent too long on her costume and didn't have enough time to properly work on Cody's.

Yoshi of course dresses up as his namesake every year.

He hates his life around this time of year.

Daddy is gone again right now visiting family in Missouri. Our Grandma and Grandpa are coming to visit us next weekend though! We are excited to have company!

No promises on when we'll update next...but we'll see you soon!

To our Aunt Coco and Uncle Gizzy! They are 10 today! They are our grandparent's poodles, so technically they are Mommy's siblings...it's all very complicated.

Coco, the princess. Her and Yoshi sometimes have arguments when we come to visit.

Gizzy is lots of fun though!

Snow Days!

Sorry for our absence! Mommy and Daddy have been busy unpacking all of our stuff and rearranging things and then we got our first big snow of the year! We were both born and raised in North Dakota so we are used to snow, but usually it is too cold to go out and play in it! So when Mommy got the day off from school we went as a family to the dog park down the street. We had a blast running around, but unfortunately no other doggies were there to play. My hair is too long so I got snowballs stuck to me (I have a grooming appointment on Monday so I will be ready for the next snow fall) and I didn't like it. My sweater got lost in the move so my tummy was cold too.

We have stuff!

Sorry for the long break! As you might have gathered from some of our previous posts, our Mommy has been living in our new house in Colorado for the past few months while our Daddy had to stay at our old house. You see, we were Air Force brats! But Daddy just finished his enlistment so Mommy left us with one of her new classmates and she got on a plane and went back to North Dakota to help Daddy bring our stuff down to Colorado. We behaved ourselves very well while she was gone, except for Cody waking the "dogsitter" up at 6:45am every day (that is when Mommy usually gets up).

So now we have our couch and our normal food dishes (they were forgotten so we have been eating out of nasty old plastic bowls) and lots more cardboard boxes to destroy (among many other things)! Mommy decided that I must have been a mountain goat in a previous life because I love climbing things! After this picture was taken Daddy put up a big metal rack to arrange all of our boxes and I somehow managed to climb it and get on that window sill right behind me. But once I climb up I can't climb back down so I just sit and whimper until someone comes to get me!

And now for some pictures of Mommy's trip even though we didn't get to go. Here's Daddy getting an awfully nice looking gift from his shop chief at his going away party (Daddy is on the right).

Mommy always wanted to stop and take a picture of the front of our first home before we left and she finally did it after they left for the last time!

They saw lots of snow on their way back to Colorado - this particular place was saying 15 inches of snow, but luckily it was all on the grass and not the roads or else we would have been staying by ourselves that night!

Mommy had a test on Friday. She was learning a lot of complicated things, but she just couldn't get the hang of something in the cell cycle. I tried my best to explain it to her, it really wasn't that difficult.

It was very frustrating though because she just didn't seem to understand.

Meanwhile, Cody just sat there and didn't help at all!

I finally gave up. Her test grade will probably reflect this.

Not so wordless Wednesday

Mommy taught me how to help with laundry today. As some of you know, I love socks. I was watching her pull lots of socks out of the dryer this morning and I sat quietly and watched as each one of them came out of the dryer. She knows how much I love socks so she gave one to me. Then she took it away and threw it in the dryer! That was mean of her. But I really wanted the sock so I jumped in after it! Once I got in there I realized why socks like it so much - it is a nice, cozy, and confined space - which I love!

Mommy made me get out and then gave me another sock. I decided the sock probably wanted to go back into the dryer so I put it back. She tried giving me more socks to put in the dryer but I figured they didn't want to be too crowded in there. Cody was distracting me anyway. I liked being in the dryer because he is too big to get in there with me!

Rescue doggies!

We have had a crazy evening tonight. Mommy brought two of her friends home and we all set out for a walk...we were very excited to meet some new people! About 10 minutes into the walk we found a little black doggy. He smelled funny and had an infected eye, but he was very friendly and kept trying to sniff us and follow us. Mommy figured if he followed us home she could call a shelter to figure out what to do with him. It was pretty obvious that he was not near where he was supposed to be as we were in the middle of a pretty big field between the backs of houses. So we kept walking until we got to the main road of the subdivision, which is pretty busy. Mommy unhooked me from my leash and carried me so the little black doggy could borrow my leash and not run out into the street. I got to ride in style! But I would rather have been down on the ground trying to sniff this new dude!

So anyways, we're walking along and guess what...ANOTHER doggy starts following us! This one looked healthier and probably was close to his home but he kept following us. Mommy saw someone and asked if the person recognized this 2nd doggy and they had never seen him before, so we all came back to our house. Mommy put me and Cody in our kennels and the other two ran around in the backyard while she tried calling animal control and local shelters - after about a bazillion phone calls she finally called our vet who told her she could bring the doggys into them to see if there was a microchip, but they couldn't keep them overnight and they were over an hour away. The alternative was to take them to the Aurora Animal Shelter where they have night drop kennels...so that is what Mommy decided to do.

Mommy told me that she filled out paperwork and then each doggy went into a different little compartment with food and water and a nice bed before the door locked behind them. She was upset at the thought that these dogs might not be claimed, but is hopeful that things will turn out ok with them.

As a reminder to all of our other doggy pals - make sure that your humans put a tag on your collar with your name and a phone number or address! If you are microchipped, make sure that your humans fill out the paperwork and send it in (it is not done automatically when you get that nasty shot) and if you move...make sure they update your information!

It snowed briefly today! We think it is too early. Then as we were getting ready to write about how we tore up lots of boxes today it started sleeting so Mommy got a video of Cody trying to figure out what was falling from the sky!

Sad day at the dog park

Today we went to play at the dog park and we heard the "Daddy" of a B-E-UTIFUL Siberian Husky talking about how he was thinking of giving her away. He has only had her for 3 months. His reason? She was cutting into "his" time...he wanted to be playing tennis instead of being at the dog park and did not like that she was interrupting his social life. Has he not figured out that dogs are the center of the world? Tennis is not more important than we are. At least it shouldn't be. But he should have thought about that before he made the commitment to take her.

And now, a rare peek - both of us sitting calmly in a picture...together!

We're sleepy, it's time for bed. Only 3 more weeks until we get to see our Daddy and our couch again! This lawn chair just isn't doing it for me. Oh yeah, Mommy's excited too.

Such a good helper

Today I helped Mommy while she was working on her first quilt. I tested it out and made sure that it was initially comfy enough...it was! And that was even before it had any fluff inside of it!

Cody gave Mommy a scare too - it even startled me! She was standing on one side of the quilt on the floor and had some fabric in her hand. Instead of walking around the quilt to get to the other side she decided just to take a gigantic leap over it - Cody freaked out and growled at her! He also immediately started wagging his tail and apologizing but it scared everyone! He's been really jumpy lately - not sure why.

Yoshi here, I guess I'll start first since I joined the family before Cody. I have actually been very good and I have never stolen food when my humans were not watching. I really prefer to rip up cardboard boxes and whatever else they might have left around of any importance. For instance, one day Mommy came downstairs to find me sitting on the kitchen table shredding her to-do list. She was not happy! But as far as food goes, I generally leave it alone.

My turn! It's Cody now. I used to steal food all the time when I first was adopted. I would "counter surf" sometimes, and my head is also at a convenient height where I can reach the coffee table if Mommy and Daddy leave things sitting on it. Once I managed to scarf about 4 pancakes off of the counter that Mommy was letting cool on a plate (she knew it was me because only the pancakes closest to the edge were gone and one was ripped in half). Another time Mommy and Daddy had made delicious smelling cheeseburgers on the grill and were eating at the coffee table. I went over for a whiff and just couldn't help myself - I had to have a bite! I managed to grab the burger and get a small taste before I was yelled at and sent into my kennel. I don't try to steal food anymore, but I will try to take a lick or at least get close so I can have dreams later about what they were eating...mmmmm.

We're going to pass our award along to Jake and Fergi, Deefor and Arrow, and Poppy the LBC!

Pooped puppies

We loooooove that Mommy has been taking us to the dog park every day. We ran around a lot tonight because there were lots of doggies around. Mommy thinks we might be picking up bugs though because we're both very itchy (even though we have our Frontline on) but she hasn't actually found any bugs yet. Anyway, while Mommy watched a movie tonight, we crashed out on the carpet! Please excuse some of the camera angles, as Mommy was trying not to distrub us too much (if she moves, we get excited and stand up to see what's going on).

Occasionally I relax like this when I'm really sleepy.

And this is one of those funky camera angles, but it looks like we're upside down so it's fun!

Mommy thinks some of the positions she finds me in are hilarious...I just think they are comfortable!

Mean doggy

Mommy has been taking us to the dog park every day which has been a blast! Tonight it was really crowded which was more fun for us because there were more doggies to chase and play with. But eventually a not-so-nice doggy came in and her human kept her on her leash the whole time. Mommy could tell that this doggy was not too friendly, but Cody tried to make friends with her anyway. I didn't see it start, but from what Mommy told me she saw a big puff of dirt fly up, heard lots of barking and yelping, and then saw a big ball of brown and black fur rolling away from the human with the leash! She ran out to get Cody and make sure that he was alright - he was, but was a little startled! Of course I had to go out and investigate this new doggy too and give her a piece of my mind, but Mommy scooped me up before I could get to her. The doggy left shortly after that. I don't like bully doggies, I prefer the friendly ones.

But just so this post isn't all gloom and doom, here's an older video (from last summer) of me doing one of my most favoritist things in the world - playing with socks! I never destroy them, but I love shaking them around and showing them who is boss!

Back in Denver

We continued to have fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Cody especially loved getting to cool off in the pool every day. And Grandma kept giving us lots of treats! But eventually we had to leave so once again we loaded up the car for another loooong trip to get back to Denver. Grand total: over 3,000 miles in less than 3 weeks! We are still getting used to the new house, and it doesn't feel like home quite yet.

Mommy remembered to bring my purple sheep blanket! She was hiding it from me (ok, it was on the floor in a room where Mommy and Daddy used it the night they had to sleep on the floor, but I never noticed it). This blanket used to sit on our couch and I would cuddle with my sheep while Mommy and Daddy watched a movie or were upstairs on their computers. There's no couch in the house yet, but Mommy put it on her bed for temporary storage and I claimed it again! It is so comfy so I think I'll just stay here awhile longer!

Swimming Doggies!

Hi everyone! After another reeeeeally long day in the car (Mommy says we have driven about 2000 miles in the last week) we are in St. Louis at Grandma and Grandpa's house for vacation and are having a blast! There's other doggies here - two poodles named Gizzy and Coco. They are kinda fun to run around with. Grandma gives us lots of treats when all 4 of us manage to sit at the same time in the kitchen because she can't believe how well behaved we are! Last time Yoshi was here he started chewing on the wooden stair banister, so Grandpa was pretty leery of letting him visit again, but so far we have been on our best behavior.

Grandma and Grandpa have a pool! Yoshi doesn't much care for it, but I LOVE IT. At first I was not sure what it was, but Mommy put her feet in and was splashing around a little. I was thirsty so I leaned down for a drink but I fell in! It was a little scary at first because my feet didn't touch the water, but now I like it and I'm not nervous anymore.

Here's me paddling around near the deep end...not a great pic, but you get the idea!

Here is a pic of me, Yoshi, Mommy, and our friend Haylee...I had just gotten done chasing a ball and Mommy caught me!

Yesterday Mommy was gone for the day so I showed Grandma and Grandpa how I can rescue people. If someone is on a raft, I try to push them to the stairs so they can get out. I am very gentle and have not popped the raft yet! Here's a short video of me pulling Yoshi around on the raft - as you can tell, he doesn't like the water much. His body is too long so he sinks before he can figure out how to paddle.

New Home!

Sorry it's been awhile since we've updated - we moved from North Dakota to Colorado! We spent a loooong time in the car after helping Mommy and Daddy load the U-Haul.

I took my car sickness pill before we left so I didn't throw up at all which made the trip better for everyone this time. We even got to stop at Mount Rushmore! And we got to stay in 2 hotels which was a new experience for us, but again, we did well. I even got to be in the front seat for a little while and stick my head out the window...I think we were in Wyoming. I love feeling the breeze in my face but I kept getting hit by bugs and the trucks we passed made loud scary noises. So I went back to my kennel for the rest of the trip.

Here's us and our Daddy and Mommy in front of our new house - this is the first house that they've bought for us (the last one wasn't actually ours) and we love it! There's almost no furniture yet so we have a lot of room to run around. Cody keeps sliding around on the hardwood floors that are in some of the rooms.

We have a nice backyard but we also found something really cool just down the street! There's a doggie park less than a 5 minute walk from our house! Mommy is thrilled that she will be able to take us both down there and wear us out so we don't get into as much trouble while she's gone at school.

Mommy and Grandma painted a room bright red (our last house was boring white because we weren't allowed to paint it) and then wondered why there were 10 little spots of red paint on the new carpets. I was caught red-pawed! It smelled so strange in there though, I couldn't resist!

That's all for now, I'm going to go run around out back and see if I can figure out how to escape from the fence again. I've already made it as far as the street twice now but they blocked my exit...no fun at all!

Shots and Dog Park

Hi guys, it's Cody for a change!

I had to go to the vet today to get a shot and some nasty nose spray. Mommy doesn't like my vet very much so I guess it's good that we're moving so hopefully I can get a nicer person. But that's another story.

She felt bad for me because I haven't gotten to run around much and because I had to get poked, so she took me to the doggie park for the first time! I was the only big dog there at first so I had to run around by myself which was still fun when she would throw my ball. Then another dog finally showed up but I was already tired and didn't feel like running a whole lot so I let him chase the ball. Mommy forgot to take pictures when he showed up but here are some pictures from when I was by myself.

The dog park is nice and big for me to stretch my legs!

Can you see how happy I am to be running without Yoshi bothering me?!

I was pooped on the way home so I squeezed myself onto the floor where it was nice and cool. Ahh, air conditioned bliss!

I decided to use mommy's computer to upload pictures since daddy's computer wasn't working very well. So here are some pictures from when I jumped in the tub a few days ago!

Mommy made me get out after a little bit because she was grossed out...hey, I eat poop, how is this worse for me?!

Cody was not sure why mommy was taking pictures of all of this so he stayed out of the action (maybe because mommy has been known to surprisingly turn the water on without warning).

In other news, Cody and I have figured out that something is going on because the humans are starting to build boxes and they are putting things in them. Books, clothes, our toys, and more. They have told us that we're moving to Denver and that we will be playing outside more often and have a bigger yard to run in. I sure hope this Denver place is more exciting than North Dakota!

Mommy got a roomba robotic vacuum awhile ago and I have always been a little scared of it, but today I decided to yell at it to quiet down. It didn't work, and just kept on making noise. Mommy's memory card for her camera was full, so she couldn't get more than this little clip.

Bath Fun

No we didn't get baths today, but I did decide to jump in the tub and lick up all of the yummy drippings from the human's showers! Hello! Time for some introductions!

Hello everyone!

My name is Yoshi and I am a 2 and a half year old Lhasa Apso/Shih-Tzu mix - or so my humans think! They rescued me from the humane society in May 2007 when I was still little and adorable (boy did I fool them!) I was their first baby so I will always hold a special place in their hearts. My adopted mommy used to volunteer at the humane society and saw me in my kennel after I had been rescued from a ditch...I don't really remember what happened to me or why I was in a ditch, but that is how the humane society humans found me. She brought me into the playroom and sat on the floor while I sniffed around. This room had so many funky smells! But she seemed awfully nice so I jumped in her lap and looked up at her. She wouldn't call me by the name that the humane society gave me (Bubbles - yuck!) so I liked her right away. I guess she went home and talked to my future adopted daddy and they came back the next day to adopt me.

My adopted mommy and daddy have since figured out that I may have been in a fire before I was in that ditch - I tense up a lot when I hear fire trucks and one time they burnt something on the stove and it made these terrible things on the ceiling start screaming as the house filled with smoke...I didn't like it at all so I frantically tried running around looking for a place to hide from the screaming and eventually they opened a door and I ran as fast as I could to get outside and I wouldn't go back in until the smoke cleared and my mommy picked me up and made me go back. But like I said, I really don't remember what happened so we will probably never know for sure.

I got my adopted mommy and daddy trained pretty quickly! But they took lots of my fun toys away from me because I liked causing trouble when I was little. I especially loved pulling the toilet paper from the bathroom into the living room to show them how strong it was. But they close the door now so I can't do that anymore. They still let me play with socks though. I LOOOOOVE socks!! I like to pounce on them and shake my head with them so I can show them who is boss.

Now let me tell you a little about my brother, Cody. In July 2008, Daddy decided that I should have a friend because I was lonely by myself (which I will admit was true, even though Cody gets on my nerves) so he and mommy started looking on petfinder.com for a new friend. Eventually they found Cody who was at the same shelter that I came from. He was a 7 month old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix. Mommy went to see him and apparently he had a similar tactic to what I did because she fell in love with him too! But she was a little more wary to get Cody because he had more of a history than I did. His previous humans bought him at one of those horrible pet stores but he had too much energy and they couldn't handle him. So they took him to the humane society. This made my mommy nervous because he jumped up on people and chewed on things and she didn't know how he would do in our house.

But she and daddy went back a few more times and then decided that they were going to let me come so I could help them decide what to do. I didn't like it at all! They took me back into the same room that I first met mommy in and I was very scared because the room still smelled very strange and I didn't know what was going on. I thought that they might be taking me back for some reason. Then they brought in Cody who was about twice my size and he kept trying to stand on top of me! What the heck was he thinking?! Talk about rude! So I put up my defense and growled and tried to show him who was boss. The humane society people didn't think that we would be a good match (and I didn't think so either) so mommy and daddy left without him. But they knew that I didn't feel comfortable there so they decided to try again and see if I would like him more outside without all the weird smells. I liked him much more once I didn't have to worry that they were going to leave me there. So that is the story of how we got my brother.

He is crazy! At first he chewed up everything in the house and we both had to stay in our kennels during the day because he would try to eat everything. I'm sure he didn't know any better but it didn't make mommy and daddy very happy! He chewed on books, shoes, pillows, the leather couch, the coffee table, the human dinner table, and anything he could get his mouth on. But now that he's been around for a year he's calmed down a lot and we get to stay out of our kennels most of the time.

I guess that is a long enough letter for now, but at least you know who we are now! We are very excited that mommy and daddy are letting us tell our stories, so we hope you enjoy reading this!
